That commitment was celebrated during the APGA Cisco Black History Month Awards, an event recognizing leaders and change makers whose efforts continue to advance equity within the sport. At the 2026 ceremony, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan received the Ken Bentley Leadership Award, honoring visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to driving meaningful, long-term change. Under Commissioner Monahan ‘s leadership, the PGA Tour’s partnership with the APGA has expanded access to world-class venues, increased financial investment and strengthened competitive pathways for players from underrepresented communities. To date, APGA players and alumni have earned more than 200 entries into PGA Tour events, representing tangible progress towards more inclusive professional landscape. The evening also recognized Tod Leonard, senior editor at Golf Digest, whose storytelling and advocacy have helped elevate APGA players, programs and impact, amplifying voices and stories that might otherwise go unheard. Together the honorees exemplified how leadership, media and institutional commitment can work in convert to move the game forward. In partnership with Cisco, the wards ceremony also highlighted the next generation of leaders through the presentation of the Chuck Robbins Scholarship, awarded to Joshua Mitchell, a sophomore golfer at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. The scholarship reflects a shared belief that education, opportunity and representation are essential to building a stronger for the game. The ceremony preceded the Cisco APGA Black History Month Classic, hosted at TPC Sawgrass’ Dye’s Valley Course. As one of the APGA Tour’s signature events, the tournaments provides elite competitive opportunities while reinforcing the importance of visibility, excellence and belongs.
